A short piece by Boyd on command and control. References quite a few famous generals and military thinkers and comes to the conclusion that command must be strong and in evidence, but control must be invisible and diffuse to be effective.

Shooting to Live

Approaching a century old, this combat classic remains as relevant today as it was when it was written. Although some of the specific advice on stance and grip is outdated (the Modern Isosceles stance and the IPSC grip are the best as of now) the more general advice and hard won combat experience is quite enlightening. There are also a variety of practical exercises that are easy to adapt to more modern circumstances – or used as is.
